The Freeze

The Freeze is a collection of MCs and musicians.Accompanied by a high energy band, our MCs take words from the audience and effortlessly weave them into freestyle rap masterpieces. Formed in San Francisco, CA in 2007 The Freeze has played to packed audiences throughout the Bay Area.Since 2010, The Freeze has been the house band for Mortified SF and Mortified Berkeley. They have also worked with many schools in the Bay Area by giving freestlye rap and improv workshops.Some of the corporate gigs members of The Freeze have played include Time Warner, Nestle, Toyota, Motorola, TED, IDEO and the Motley Fool all across the country.

Andrew Bancroft was featured on Mtvs TRL, in Rolling Stone, TIME, and Blender for his alter ego Jelly Donuts beef with hip-hop star Lady Sovereign. Writer and host of Revision 3s The Digg Reel (08-10). Writer and star of the 08 San Francisco International Film Festival selection Evolution: the Musical! Associate Creative Director at ad agency Goodby, Silverstein & Partners. Awards: 2009 One Show Gold Pencil (Haagen-Dazs Loves Honeybees), 2010 One Show Bronze Pencil (Milks White Gold), and D&AD awards for (Comcast Town).

Mr. Diggs (Daveed Digs)

Daveed Diggs was nominated for 2 Bay Area Critics Circle Awards for performances at Matt in Red Light Winter and Angel in Jesus Hopped The A Train. In recent years he has done extensive work with award-winning multi-cultural ensemble Campo Santo. He is touring with Award Winning Marc Bamuthi Josephs Word Becomes Flesh. Diggs is also a member of the Bay Area hip-hop arts collective The Getback with his first full length album Small Things to a Giant slated for release in July 2011.

Opey spends most of his time on the mic; freestyling with The Freeze,rocking shows in San Francisco and Oakland, or recording songs withtechno DJs and string quartets.When he is not on the mic, Opey is acting and starring in SanFrancisco shows like Twilight Zone at The Dark Room.When he is not on the mic or acting, he performs with the SanFrancisco-based improv troupe, Clean Sanchez (www.CleanSanchezImprov.com), which he co-founded.When he is not performing, Brendan works as a mild-mannered onlinemarketing guru in the start-up world.When he is not doing any of those things, he is probably eating.

Kyra Gordon is a bay-area native. Spending her teenage years in Los Angeles as an actress, she has appeared in independent film, as well as a television series (NBC's the 70's).

After her 20th birthday she suffered a pre-mid-life crisis and joined a commune in Mill Spring, North Carolina.

Eventually a life-long passion for music brought her to Paris, France, where she was fortunate enough to perform with great blues musicians (such as Boney Field's, Lucky Peterson, and Lola Gulley...).

Currently Kyra is enrolled in a BM program at The Jazzschool Institute in Berkeley.

Gift Of Godvien (Brian Rodvien)

2023 winner of the nobel prize in astrodrumphysics.Brian is a drummer and composer. As a drummer he has shared the stage with a variety of musicians including Taj Majal, Maria Muldaur, Eric McFadden & Vernon Bush. His experiences in the studio and live include rock, musical theater, ska, funk, soul, blues & jazz. Films he has scored have been screened in San Francisco, LA & New York film festivals.He is also the COO of a nonprofit called Smarter Medical Care.

Put It On Meh' (Sanjay Paranani)

Sanjay has been performing in the Bay Area music scene since moving to San Francisco in 1996, having played at venues such as the Fillmore, Great American Music Hall, Bimbo’s, Palace of Fine Arts Theater, Café du Nord, Yerba Buena Gardens, as well as many others.These days, in addition to the Freeze, he can be found playing in the brass band for the award-winning Hot Pink Feathers dance troupe (notably having performed in SF Carnaval 2008 – 2010), and sitting in with local groups the Eggplant Casino and Dr. Abacus.Sanjay’s previous groups of note include the nine-piece Miles Davis-inspired band Bitches Brew (awarded SF Weekly’s “Best Jazz Band” and Reader’s Poll “Best Band” in 2001) and Aphrodesia, a high-energy, brass and percussion-fueled 11-piece Afrobeat band that toured the US in a veggie oil-powered bus in 2004 and shared the stage with countless national acts at the High Sierra Music Festival in 2005.Aside from performing, Sanjay enjoys a rewarding day job as an audio/multimedia producer for an educational nonprofit.

Michael is a professional guitarist and guitar teacher based in San Francisco.He has performed at numerous venues around the Bay Area including the SF Carnival Festival, the Great American Music Hall and the famed Herbst Theater. Mike has shared the stage with members of Santana and his performance experience covers such genres as Jazz, Afro-Cuban, Musical Theater, Hip-Hop and R&B.
